South Carolina!
07 November 2011
Today was a beautiful day! We motored out Snows Cut from Carolina Beach into and down the Cape Fear River, turned south at Southport, NC and continued down the ICW past lots of beautiful Carolina scenery and arrived in Barefoot Landing in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina! The temperature rose steadily all day and by the time we docked it was in 84 degrees. Today was a wildlife day, with flocks of pelicans, blue herons, great snowy egrets, cormorants and dolphins. We passed a boat today that I recognized as being docked in Rock Hall in a marina another friend of ours keeps his boat. The home port on the boat is Medford, NJ. Turns out they are good friends with my friend, who they only met in the marina and then found out they live three minutes from each other in Medford. What a small world! We spent happy hour with them and heard all about their 15 years of taking their boat to Florida each winter. The weather forecast is good so we plan to try for Georgetown, SC. If we get in a marina there we may stay over two nights. The Captain. I loved seeing all the beachy scenery today along with glorious blue water. When we arrived in Barefoot Landing I was pleasantly surprised to find quaint, interesting shops to browse in. Nothing to buy but plenty of looking to do. The Admiral
