A happy day on the ICW
10 November 2011 | Just north of Charleston, S.C.
We had an absolutely beautiful day traveling south on the ICW. The sun was out, the temperature was very nice, and the scenery was beautiful. We got underway really early (6:30) because our internal clocks have not yet adjusted for daylight savings time. That allowed us to cover 60 miles and be docked by 2pm. 10 miles of our travel today was through a wildlife sanctuary, although we saw very little wildlife. Another 25 miles were through a land cut that alternated wilderness with small groups of waterfront docks that stretched back for over a 100 feet to what looked to be mostly summer houses. We are in Toler’s Cove marina which is a condominium community with a marina wrapped around it on two sides. As we motored into the marina to our assigned slip we had dolphins swimming alongside. Nice and quiet, beautiful sunset, and night sky is lit up by Charleston. Our plans for tomorrow are to anchor near Beaufort, S.C. and then travel on to and spend two or three days at the Isle of Hope Marina outside of Savannah so we can take the bus onto Savannah to sightsee. We sat in our cockpit and had dinner while watching the commute homeward from Charleston, and we are not in it! The Admiral
