Saint Augustine
19 November 2011
Today we traveled through the back side of the northern Florida seashore. We saw was everything from marshy wilderness to houses with docks lining both sides of the waterway to the back sides of rows of condominium buildings. We saw lots of fisherman in small boats in the ICW and the numerous creeks feeding into it. The dolphins are more prevalent in the ICW in the last couple of days. We saw large groups of swans and lots of egrets, a pair of bald eagles in a tree, and a swan like bird Jill thinks may be an Ibis. The ICW turns out towards the ocean at the St. Augustine inlet and then back westward into the town of St. Augustine, so we saw the ocean today. It looked to be still churned up from the last couple of days of strong winds. We motored into town, through the famous drawbridge called the Bridge of Lions, and picked up a mooring ball at the St. Augustine municipal Marina because all the slips are full tonight. We are sitting on the boat with a light breeze blowing and it is overcast but still 74 degrees out. Tomorrow we will move into a slip for at least two nights so we can easily tour the town. While here we will try to firm up our itinerary for the rest of November and will let you know when we do. The Captain
