linda - humid and windy
Hi all. Hope your thanksgiving was great. We shared ours with Steve and Gloria on s/v (that's short for sailing vessel) I'Lean. We've been traveling with them on and off since we left the Bahamas earlier this year. While we went to Grenada, they went to Venezuela for the hurricane season. We re-met when we both arrived in the Grenada Lagoon on the same day (Nov. 16th). It was great to see them again.
We planned on grilling Cornish hens for Thanksgiving, but with the winds blowing at 15-35 knots (that's a lot of wind to keep a grill lit) we decided to use the pressure cooker instead. They turned out great, and we had all the fixin's to go with them" - cranberry sauce, garlic mashed potatoes, Grenadian sweet potatoes (they're white and have a very gentle sweet potato taste), Stove Top Stuffing for Turkey (ok, so we cheated a bit), sliced tomatoes, green olives (hey, that's the only green vegetable" they'd let me put on the table! I was lucky to put the tomatoes out), sweet rolls with butter, and a spice cake with cream cheese frosting that Gloria made that day. It was really a wonderful dinner with great company.
We left Grenada this past Sunday morning and arrived in Carriacou Sunday evening. Looks like we'll be here for a bit. I'Lean is getting her bottom painted, and we might be able to get a shade cover (bimini) made for us to use while we're sailing. It helps to keep the hot, hot, hot sun off of us. I'll let you know what happens. Meanwhile, michael and I are snorkeling to the beach every day, then taking a long walk on the beach, then snorkeling back to the boat. Good exercise, but, OH MAN, WE'RE EXHAUSTED.
Stay tuned.
