B'Sheret

April, 2011. We've arrived in the Mediterranean! Our plan is to stay here a minimum of 3 years and see all that we can see. However, as cruisers we know our plans are written in sand at low tide. So . . . Stay Tuned!

Ok.ok.ok. I get the message. It's been 2 months since my last blog update. We sailed from Antigua to St. Barts - lifestyles of the rich and famous. It was French and expensive as we expected it to be. We only stayed 2 nights, then headed to St. Maarten which is where we are still located.

While here we added 2 solar panels, a wind generator and a water maker. We are now set to go anywhere in the world and provide our own electricity and water. Whew!! Welcome to the modern age of sailing. The only thing we're lacking is a flat screened 50 inch TV and screen - and we'll lack that for quite awhile. Could we spend more money? Of course we could.

While here I received news that my son Ian was in critical condition in a hospital in Vicenza, Italy due to a serious case of viral pneumonia. The Army flew me there and within a week he was ready to be released. My heart is back to normal again.

Also, while here we were able to watch a Carnival parade. I'm including some photos of some of the magnificent costumes we viewed. We enjoyed the parade, but next time we plan on bringing a set of ear plugs with us as well.

So, we've got all the toys we want on the boat now. Hopefully, tomorrow we'll leave the lagoon and start to head down island to Venezuela for the hurricane season. I promise to update this site as often as possible on the way down.

Stay tuned.

Linda
