Let It Blow, Let It Blow, Let It Blow
23 December 2011 | Puerto Escondido, Sea of Cortez, Mexico
After 5-1/2 weeks in the states cooling off and visiting family and friends, Don and I caught the bus and had two weeks in Cabo San Lucas with my sister Nancy and her family, then finished off with two days in La Paz visiting our mates on 'Bravo'. We're now back aboard Buena Vista in Puerto Escondido. When we got back to the boat we found her safe and sound but our refrigeration unit had stopped working. We've spent the last two days trying to figure out what the problem is with the help of tech support in West Virginia using the boat's email only. It's a frustratingly slow process but hey, what else is there to do? There's a big northerly 'wind event' happening right now. Outside it's blowing 25-30 knots, with massive whitecaps blowing by us everywhere, and we're inside the protected harbor! Our weather guru Don Anderson said, "Be careful out there. It's gonna blow so hard it'll blow the skin off your rice pudding.' I guess that's pretty hard. These big winds are expected to continue thru Monday, the 26th. So it looks like a quiet Christmas for the Robbos this year. We think we've found the refrigerator part we need in La Paz but we might not be able to get it shipped until sometime next week anyway. There's also one in San Diego but the company who has it has closed down until after New Year's Day. Hey - at least it's not 95 degrees outside and we can't make an ice cube.
