Cabo - Boy Have You Changed!
06 December 2011 | Cabo San Lucas, Baja, Mexico
I first visited Cabo in 1979 I think. I stayed at the Finisterrra Hotel. This picture is taken from up on the hill where the old Finisterra still stands. The view sure has changed though. Back then it was just a big shallow body of water, really muddy all around. The Hacienda Hotel was way over on the other side and to the far right. To walk there you had to go all the way around to the left, past the little town with cobblestone streets, past the Giggling Marlin Bar and way over across the other side. A taxi was a much easier way to get to the beach but those guys were crazy drivers and the streets weren't so good back then either. Now, the marina is full of immaculate sportsfishing boats and ultra-luxury yachts from all around the world. For a boat like Buena Vista to dock for the night you're talking $150-$200. That big pool at the bottom of the shot is the Dophin Arena. From here we were able to watch the show from above for free.
