Mods....

Inspite of my best efforts to keep electronics off the boat, we ended up with quite a few gadgets on board. As the saying goes, "If you can't fix it, it probably shouldn't be there". So the electronics on the boat are as follows:

Heading South!!

After much toiling and also much waiting (for weather) we have at last made it the 60 mile stretch North up the St Johns river and are now heading south on the intracoastal waterway (hereinafter referred to as the ICW, or as the locals call it, "The INTERcoastal) "YAY!! Spoiled in Vero Beach Marina

03 March 2010
Hi everyone and thank you for your continued interest in our epic journey. As we write this to you we find ourselves almost completely out of electricity. It seems no matter how big or how many batteries we buy for the trip (4 marine batteries, 2 for the engine and 2 for watching Hi-Def HBO), our demand for electricity grossly exceeds our ability to create it.

... That and a mysterious parasitic drain on the battery drew more power than our one solar panel could provide. So when coming back to the boat after a long day of shopping and laundry, we came back to find our energy-demanding lifestyle reduced to tealights and a Palm Pilot to write blogs with.

The good news being we took a great picture of a tiny crab today (but don't have the energy to send a photo). So that and other photos will be posted as soon as we have the resources to do so.

Our day was quite social.. Our bus ride brought us to the shopping district of Vero Beach where a two-thousand dollar wheel of cheese was sacriligously sampled thus quickly concluding our visit to the posh, overpriced grocery store.

We felt much more at home in ABC Fine Wine And Spirits. Nobody judged us for our shoes there. Carrying our 100$-worth of cabin-fever-be-gone (wine) to the bus stop we engaged in a delightful conversation with a fellow cruiser who had owned catamarans all her life and had much advice to give. The busride ended with her inviting us to visit her trolling catamaran at some point before our departure in a couple of days. We are currently awaiting an APB on the radio from "Valentino" to "Butterfly"..

We'll let you know when we have more excitement to share.
