New challenge in my sailboat project
During my last visit to the ophthalmologist he explained to me that my current vision problems are due to having developed cataracts in both eyes. This in addition to the high myopia, glaucoma, and history of retinal detachment leaves me with very poor vision.
Initially I refused to accept this new challenge and only remember leaving the doctor's office in a hurry. After some time I realized this wasn't a solution, that I needed to return to my doctor. I was hindered in my efforts to carry out my work especially when writing notes in the computer.
Accepting the new challenge, I've scheduled the operation of the waterfall in the trust that it can improve my vision and allow me to continue my project. During cataract surgery the clouded lenses will be replaced with AcrySof Toric lenses

NAVEGANDO

Is Time for vacation for the crew, before hard work in Excalibur I need a balance from my 80 hrs. job and the Excalibur. The place is Vieques Island .
Is a liter Island in the Caribbean part of Puerto Rico . The idea is ahead for future travel in Excalibur.
The island is located between Puerto Rico and St. Thomas (USVI), and is separated from the southeast coast of Puerto Rico by approximately 8 miles of sea, although if you are taking a ferry from Fajardo the distance will be 18 miles. Numerous other small cays (islets) lie offshore of Vieques.
Isabel Segunda port, holds the distinction of being the last fort built by the Spaniards in the New World.

First we must look for information of contrucion of rudders. The books is Sailboat Hull & Deck Repair from Don Casey and Osmosis En Embarcaciones de Fibra por by Tony Staton Bevan.
Fiberglass rudders are almost always built in two halves and glued together.
It is time to learn.

BEGIN THE SEARCH
That the dream is made reality we begin with the search in example ebay and another salvage side. The sailboat of my expectations should have the size required for Ocean Blue Water.
Damage
Damage Includes: Hull has one area of approx. 12 inches x 12 inches breach at the very top edge of hull on port side (see photos). This is the only hull damage as indicated by marine surveyor. Boat was surveyed by an experienced licensed marine surveyor, and his report indicated no structural damage. Hull, keel and bottom were in apparently in good shape other than small upward breach already mentioned and a crack in the keel surface that can be easily repaired(see photos). He did note that the motor does not turn.
The vessel does seem to have sunk but was pinned below a dock as indicated by waterline mark on side of hull. Hatches were left open while vessel was in storage thus causing an inch or two of rain water to accumulate. Vessel needs some minor fiberglass repair at area of 12 inch breach at the very top of the hull on the port side. Systems need to be gone over such as wiring, clean up. Interior walls , counter tops, and such need cleaning and detailing such as cushion cleaning or replacement to restore to her former appearance. Interior cushions , life jackets and such are in disarray in main salon area (see photos). Deck appears to be in good condition. Mast/boom appear to be in fair condition and have been removed for transport. Engine /trans/components do not turn and appear to be in poor condition. Unable to confirm current engine condition. Driveshaft/rudder/prop/components appear to be in fair condition. Meters/gauges/electronics/components appear to be in poor condition.
Seats/upholstery/cushions appear to be in poor condition. Please note that a C&C is a unique vessel and one of this year often bring in the high $40,000 price range as can be verified by an internet search. This C&C vessel is waiting to be restored to her former racing cruiser status. We recommend you thoroughly research on the internet the value of a C&C vessel of this year and length and bid accordingly. Remember these fine boats retain their value very well. Pressure washing the boat will remove most if not all of the residue on the hull of the vessel. The black circular spot on the side of the hull is not a hole or breach but merely a painted on marking to categorize the vessel and can be removed by compounding and wax. Some stanchions are bent or missing and will need to be replaced along with stern railing. Also a pice of port side rub rail will have to be reattach. Possible Additional Hurricane / Flood Related Damage
For select the typical vessel I 'm use the book Best Boats to build or buy by Ferenc Mate . This book use for obtain information and characteristic about different vessel.
The book This old boat by Don Casey help myself to understand the use of fiberglass in the boats.
