At last! I finally got the final proof of my novel, SAILING AWAY FROM THE MOON, in mid-September -- thanks to cruising friends who picked it up at the Pago Pago post office for us and then brought it to Tonga via the sailing vessel Night Ryder. (Talk about snail mail!) SUMMARY

SAILING AWAY FROM THE MOON explores the ever growing and passionate relationship between idealistic young writer Maggie Johnson and her all too human hero, acclaimed photojournalist Ashley Graham Robertson.

When Maggie and Ashley meet, they both get what they want. Maggie, an ardent admirer of Robertson's work, soon learns that he is not only a man of great strength and courage but also of phenomenal self-restraint. Ashley finds in Maggie a haven from the raw realities of life: she is warmth; she is beauty; she is innocence incarnate. He wants only to protect her from the evils of the world for as long as she may live.

Over the years, however, Ashley discovers that his most difficult task may be saving Maggie from his very own passion and fears -- until his worst fears become reality. Ann Henry has created a delightful novel with two protagonists whose dysfunctionality creates not only inevitable tension between themselves, but also a curious fascination amongst her readers. These people are not uncomplicated. Maggie bears two children and discovers a dangerous local predator, who is out to get the two of them due to an earlier
conflict with Ashley. The book's author, Miss Henry, is an excellent wordsmith, and weaves the complexity of this novel to a tee. She has a most articulate writing style, and a facile handling of the language and the tropical environment. As the story advances through its surprising conclusion, I dare you to put the book down 'till you're finished!
