Yesterday evening, as we approached Santa Barbara, we watched a beautiful sunset over Point Concepcion. On the final approach to Santa Barbara we did another spinnaker run until the winds calmed and we had to motor. We arrived at Santa Barbara at 7:30 pm, and reserved a slip in the harbor for 2 nights. This will give us a chance to reprovision, get some sailing gear that we need, and do some projects on the boat.

We had a leisurely dinner of Cuban Farm Style Chicken (chicken simmered with onions, garlic, cumin, and orange juice) and broccoli with cheese sauce, and started to watch a movie, but we soon realized the need for sleep was catching up with us and we retired early.

A comment about the auto-pilot. This is a Raymarine ST-4000 and it is surpassing all expectations. When flying the spinnaker we put the autopilot in "wind vane mode", where it steers to a certain angle of the apparent wind, and we almost never have to touch the wheel, or the sail trim on the chute (unless we're changing course) despite following seas. I had not expected an autopilot to work under such conditions.
