Journey to San Diego
04 October 2009 | Stockton, California
Well, the journey for the kids and I has finally started. It seems that we've been preparing and working so long and now the time has finally arrived. We had a great few days visiting with friends since moving out of our house. We are truly thankful for great friends like Coreen, Jerry, Christina, Seth, Conni, Wu etc!!
We didn't exactly have a "rocking' start on Saturday...by the time we got the truck loaded up (we had to install a roof rack to fit everything in the vehicle) it was 3:00 and we looked rather like a scene from a Chevy Chase movie. We had another stop in Olympia to take our Passat to the consignment lot and then we were finally on our way. We made it as far as Cottage Grove, Oregon. Neither Craig or I slept much that night (we blamed it on the latte we had at 3:00pm). We got up on Sunday to rain and cool weather and left around 10:00. We drove as far as Stockton and are now ready for bed again. We are realizing again that young boys need many stops for bathroom breaks :-) In any event, all is going well - we are happy to be underway and expect to be in San Diego tomorrow night after another long day of driving. Alison and Sherrie, you'll be happy to hear that I'm writing in my journal as well!!
