Chasing the Dream
Out for a sail on Mrs. Robinson
01/12/2012, San Carlos, Mexico

I got out on Mrs. Robinson yesterday with Olaf, Lei Ling and Tony. Mrs Robinson is a Skip Johnson 36' Tri. We headed out with no wind but soon had 10 -12 knots blowing and we had a good sail. It feels so good to get out on the water. My daggerboard is held up in NY over some paperwork SNAFU but it may start moving again today. My fingers are crossed.

Love you!
Sailing on Patches
01/03/2012, San Carlos, Mexico

I got out sailing on Tony's boat Patches yesterday. She is a Brown Searunner 40. The wind was quite light but we still hit 6.5 knots a few times. We had a good time and capped it off with a few brews afterward. Today was spent with a test run on the dinghy and its engine and more little things on the boat. In a day or two I will get out with Olaf on his Skip Johnson trimaran. Have you noticed the trimaran theme here. Tri it, you'll like it.

Back in Mexico
12/31/2011, Marina Real, San Carlos

I had a wonderful few weeks in Utah with Kak but it all ended too soon. She is off gallivanting in New Zealand for a couple of months and I'm back in Mexico waiting for my new daggerboard. The 'before Christmas' shipping date has changed to 'the second week in January'. I'm not happy about it but there is nothing to be done. Tonight is New Years and I'm not really up for a party. I wish I was in New Zealand. Monday I will go sailing on Patches with my mate Tony which should put me in a better mood. Pictures to follow!

re-broken daggerboard
12/07/2011

After getting back to the marina we had trouble getting the daggerboard up. Closer examination showed that the last repair I did was not up to scratch. Phil's Foils in Ottawa will have a new one shipped to me by Christmas so I will take the opportunity to head back to Utah and visit Kak and her family. I'm sure the cost of the new board will disappear from my consciousness as soon as I get there.

Sailing again
12/07/2011

I finally got the boat in the water, the mast up and everything rigged. We, (Dale from La Buena Vida, Tony from Patches, and I), headed out with two reefs in the main and had a great sail. The wind got into the low thirties and we got close to twenty knots of boat speed. Attached is a photo of Dale at the helm.

time to catch up again
12/07/2011, San Carlos, Mexico

Well it's time to catch up again. After getting bored waiting for trailer repairs I decided to drive to Utah to see my gal Kak. We had a great visit including the hike the attached photo is from. It's a long drop to the bottom behind us.
