Whole again

Dan/ calm and clear evening
Well we are a sailboat again! After 2.5 months since arriving in Australia, Camelot is finally in one piece as her mast was re-stepped last Friday. The repairs following on from the damage caused by the shonky boat haulage company (now, apparently, in receivership) took forever to complete (most of that time waiting to get into the super-busy paint shed) but at last we can sail again!

On the shakedown cruise with Bruce, Bruce and the new Bruces (the latter two being Kat and myself!) from Hillarys Boat Harbour to near Fremantle we hit 8 kn on just 12kn of breeze- sweeeeeet as!!

A view from the cockpit of the marina.. it is not obvious, but the marina complex (just behind all the launches in the pic) is home to a hotel, sports pub, several restaurants, a cafe and its very own micro-brewery (the Indian Ocean Brewing Company).... HOW GOOD IS THAT!!!!!

... and finally home...

And finallly in her new 'pen' (I think 'berth' sounds nicer) at the Mindarie Marina, on the northern outskirts of Perth... she still looks really strange without her mast... it will be another month before repairs (of the damage caused by the trucking company) are complete...

We applied 'Propspeed' to the propellor- a silicon based coating that 'so they say....' improves efficiency...
I know, I know, so this is really only going to appeal to the serious boaties out there....

a lick of paint....

After completing the repairs to the hull (ourselves- the truckers did not come to the party at all) we gave her a fresh coat of antifoul (which had been rubbed raw off the hull... she looks quite odd without her mast....

exploded furler...

the head of the genoa furler- virtually exploded by improperly secured rigging flailing about during the trip across australia... this is complete negligence on the part of the shipping company....
