Lisa... It's freezing
Another journey on Cantankerous
Back at Chesapeake Boatworks marina in Deltaville, VA. Been 3 months since we've been to the boat. It was put back in the water on Friday. There were a lot of projects that were suppose to be done during the 3 months we were back home. Wanna guess how many got done!?!? You're a boat owner, you know nothing usually gets done unless you're there to make sure it does. Troy called & emailed weekly for progress updates, measurement & pictures, but unfortunately his calls & emails were rarely returned. I checked on our new mattress we ordered a week before we came back & it was in & waiting our arrival. I also had our salon cushions recovered. I'm sure Trisha from Bay Canvas got tired of my weekly update calls. Wanted to make sure they were gonna be done. She promised they would be done before thanksgiving. We were hoping they'd be done & on the boat when we arrived Sunday.

Since we were coming back the week of thanksgiving, we knew getting any last minute work done before the holiday would be a challenge. We got in on Sunday late afternoon. Our mattress had been delivered & the radar arch was on. The rigging for the arch wasn't done nor had it been ordered yet. The cushions wouldn't be done till Tuesday late morning or early afternoon so we got to sit on the plywood... When we finally sat down. Oh we'll, par for the course. It's been a "hurry up & wait" process. Oh, but wait.... Did I mention Troy got a new toy!?! A gentleman made a whisker pole for the geneua... Something else to show off; probably after another fishing story or after he "outran" someone else's boat. 😉

Its Wednesday... Rigging is ordered, soft start is being installed, provisioning is done & cushions are in & look really nice! It's still cold, rainy & very windy. We're gonna stay here tonight & get out in the morning. We still have few things to do ourselves before taking rental car back then it should be a relaxing evening.

Although, I'm a bit nervous about our thanksgiving dinner tomorrow. Picked up a bone in turkey breast that's been thawing since Sunday in our fridge. Our oven is very small & doesn't hold temp well so have to babysit it the entire time. Bought an oven thermometer & a meat thermometer. The oven thermometer on the oven shows the temp 50 degrees more than it really is. I put a pampered chef baking stone in the bottom hoping to distribute the heat more evenly but it's really too big. Had it sanded down a little but really need to have about an inch cut off all sides so the heat can actually flow.

I've been looking up recipes for baking the turkey. Can't just throw it in & hope it comes out juicy & full of flavor. Also looked up pumpkin pie recipes & pecan pie recipes. Forgot to make copies of mine from home. I now have "recipes" as one of my notes on my iPad. I'm sure there's probably an app but haven't had time or desire to look yet. Our dinner will be turkey breast, green beans, sweet potato casserole, salad, cranberry sauce, dinner rolls, pumpkin pie & pecan pie. Another issue with our tiny oven... Can only bake one item at a time 😒
