Some good reasons you should never buy a boat

The admiral relieved me of duty this
morning, I've been demoted to boatswain and ordered the straighten out the ship. So I've been putting things in order while Lisa, got us underway from our anchorage at New Smyrna beach. Cantankerous, will be staying inside today (on the inner coastal waterway) instead of rounding cape Canaveral, on the outside. There is a light southerly wind today that makes using the sails going south impractical. So we will have the joy of listening to our motor sip diesel all day. It's not a big deal as she only burns .6 gals of fuel an hour We just could do without listening to it run... The upside of running the motor is it charges our batteries. Cantankerous is a bit of a power hog, and that has everything to do with her rather spoiled masters who insist on hot showers, lights, refrigeration, AC when it's hot and heat when it's cold, oh and Satellite TV of course which I really don't consider a luxury but more of necessity.

Extra:	We started out 2 years ago in a 32' Hunter Vision, SV: Mucho Gusto. Not much love loss with that vessel. Mast had been compromised in a hurricane & repaired with a 3 foot sleeve... So I was told. Lost mast in March 2012 with just the jib out. I was on my way back from the Dry Totugus with my [...] daughter, Kari & her bf. That's when I found out the "3 foot" sleeve was actually a 4 inch sleeve. Very fortunate we hadn't lost it before that during one of our crossings from Pensacola to the Keys. Looking back now it was one debacle after another but it was a good learning experience! Ignorance is bliss!! Our last debacle was a small galley fire, due to our own stupidity, refueling an alcohol stove burner. Lisa had 2nd & 3rd degree burns on both arms, hands & upper thigh, but Once again, we were very fortunate... it could've been much worse! That was on New Years of 2013. Boat was already for sale & it sold shortly thereafter & bought Cantankerous . Cantankerous is a 42' Beneteau 411. She's a beauty! We've added several amenities & necessities... In my opinion! She was in Sandusky, OH. We began our adventures in July of this year sailing from Sandusky to Buffalo, NY, where we had mast taken down then went down the Erie Canal to Catskill, NY where we had mast stepped. Went home for 3 weeks then back to Catskill & began our next journey to the Chesapeake bay to Deltaville, VA. We then went home for 3 months for harvest time. We're on our next journey venturing south to warmer climate. Did I mention I hate to be cold!?! I hate the cold!! 😊 More
