Star Raft

29 July 2019 | Ladnafladen and Skomakarviken, Stockholm Archipelago, Sweden
Marty Rogers | Mostly sunny in the morning; rain after 1500
Thursday, July 4, 2019

Approximately 40 of the cruise boats formed a “Start Raft” by mooring (bow to the circle’s outside) to 4 primary anchor boats (North, South, East & West) and 4 secondary anchor boats (NE, SE, SW, & NW) that were tied to a large mooring in the center. The remaining boats filled in the compass points and tied to each other. The final two boats to enter were the large ones—The Loyal and the Havet—and enabled the circle to close.

Bad weather changes our destination

Photo: Weather was bright and sunny for our climb up the lighthouse on Huvudskar and walk around the island. The view is spectacular. You can see the raft of 8 boats over our shoulders.

Photo: Canty was the 3rd boat to tie up to the rocks on Saltkobben, a small island across the channel from Huvudskar. More boats from our cruise kept coming in til we had 8. Canty was able to get the closest to shore and looks tiny in comparison.

Lay Day in Uto

10 July 2019 | Uto, North Harbor, Stockholm Archipelago, Sweden
Marty Rogers | Sunny, warm and very windy
Monday, July 1, 2019

The channel in to the North Harbor on Uto is narrow but easily navigated. This is the entrance used by the many ferries that come and go from the island.
