A trip to the mountains
15 February 2009 | San Sebastian, Jalisco
On Feb. 15, we rented a car along with Stephaine and Frank of s/v "Endless Summer" for a trip up into the mountains to the old colonial village of San Sebastian. The Spanish found silver here and setup many silver mines beginning in 1605. The silver was shipped back to Spain on the galleons as part of the huge flow of gold and silver from the New World. The town square of "zocalo" and village church are seen in the accompanying picture. The town is around 4000 feet in altitude so it got cold at night which was a pleasant change from the heat in Puerto Vallarta.
