Waiting for Repair Parts

Sunny and Balmy for Now
My friend Phyllis on Wyvern reminds us in her "Wanderings" that "cruising is repairing boats in exotic places". I hope Marathon is exotic enough, because we will be here a few more days. It is a busy nautical community of cruisers, live a boards, fishermen, crabbers and colorful locals. A tourist town of a different sort. One can acquire most boat parts easily on a walk or bike-ride. Unfortunately not this one.
After spending an afternoon below deck in the far aft corner Jack pronounced the autopilot unrepairable. A sweaty job at best. I was the one who sat at the helm turning the wheel on his command, sipping a Yuengling, and trying to not get sunburned. I have to believe his diagnosis.
Today he is surfing the web attempting to find the necessary parts. (Just for you Charlie, it is the autopilot linear drive$$$$$$$)
There will be no further adventures until this repair is resolved.
We won't go out to sea for a trip of any length without a working autopilot or additional crew unless absolutely necessary. Regardless it is a nice place to wait and relax.
A side benefit if being stuck here is that the weather is predicted to turn nasty with high winds and heavy seas for the weekend. We probably would have stayed here anyway.
I'll check in again when we are on our way.
