HYDRAULIC SUCCESS!

KRIS/ BALMY AND BREEZY
Everyone on S/V Wyvern are all smiles tonight. The hydraulic repairs were a success and Phyllis rewarded Jack with one of his favorite boat cooked meals, homemade meatloaf, fresh zucchini, mac& cheese (for me) and chocolate meringue pie baked fresh onboard. I think the pie was for Charlie, but it turned out perfect. Pie baked on a boat is always an accomplishment. I can’t do it, and don’t try. Jack and Charlie worked from 8 am to 3 pm and deserved a treat. I just came along for the food and company. My contribution today was staying out of the way. The boys accomplished their repairs with only one more trip into shore involving a taxi ride to a local lumber yard/ hardware dealer for some special fittings. If you want the gory details, read Wyvern’s Wanderings.
I spent the day reorganizing stores and equipment for the trip home, defrosting the fridge and lazing about reading a novel. We plan to leave Georgetown as soon as weather is right. The winds are predicted to be northwest tomorrow and that is exactly our direction of travel, so we may have to wait a day. If so we will, as this leg is on the ocean and can be a bit rough if conditions aren’t favorable.
There is a mixture of fronts and troughs moving through the islands bringing very uncertain weather with squalls and thunderstorms predicted for tonight and uncertain weather for the next few days. Tomorrow we may enjoy another day of relaxation or sail the high seas. We are both anxious to get moving, but if the weather is rough we’ll stay put.
