Leaving Panama
23 April 2012 | Isla San Jose, Las Perlas
On April 21, we pulled up our anchor at La Playita to get fuel and water for the trip to Galapagos. As we pulled up the anchor, it seemed hard. We found that we were tangled with a car motor block. We got another boat to help release us – not an easy process. We fueled with150 gallons in the tank and 20 on the rail – for what might be a “windless” sail. We planned to go in company with three other boats – Gypsy Blues, Watermusic and Blessed. As it turned out we had very good wind and arrived in the Galapagos only having used 83 gallons.
We then left La Playita anchorage on April 22 about noon planning to spend the night at Pedro Gonzalez, Las Perlas. The weather got nasty and we were glad to get to the anchorage – even though it was rolly and windy. We anchored in the dark – not fun. Our friends Gypsy Blues were also there but we did not see them. In the morning we left early and motored to Isla San Jose where we made final preparations in the large anchorage there. We left about 5:00 PM. Gypsy Blues called as we left and they were leaving too.
