I finally fixed his XPlot position on the little map. I couldn't figure out why it kept putting him on land! He wasn't giving me the minus on his longitude. I think the highlights of his trip so far are as follows: flying fish dead on deck, burning his Spanish rice that he tried to cook and spilling his coffee this morning. I really only talk to him briefly, as some times the connection is not good or the seas are not conducive for conversation. Today seemed like he was starting to encounter rougher seas and his sat phone antenna had come loose so he needed to get that fixed ASAP Luckily it is just located on the upper hard deck of the boat and not on the mast.

Yesterday was mostly motoring. Today there is sailing, as he is trying to conserve fuel, but the progress has been a little slow. His weather advisors are telling him to go East for now to try and avoid a front that is moving in.
The Google Earth Map position is 28.2604 Lat and
-75.0361 Long

The winds were favorable for sailing out of Fort Lauderdale this morning. The boat is currently about 40 miles offshore and will eventually skirt the Bahamas. I (Teresa) am entering the information for Mike, but for some reason the coordinates that he gave me on the phone don't post correctly on the XPlot map. If you use Google Earth (fly to), the position 27.0833, -79.5275 will put you in the correct place. He has had to reduce the sails for the night, so that things are not happening so quickly. I guess at least 2 ships... freight and cruise ship have shown up on radar, but luckily did not track and he was able to get by without having to try and make contact with them.
