well, went to Monterey this past weekend and it was dreary weather but smooth water. Saturday we went out on the inflatable to a spot just ofshore from the aquarium and spent some time at 50-60 feet checking out the marine life. Then we did a beach dive off San Carlos Beach where all the diving classes go for checkout dives. It was an easy one, 30-40 minutes at no more than 30 feet, but we were mostly watching the seals swim around us. There's also a bunch of birds that dive down and eat stuff that's stirred up off the bottom. Weird seeing a BIRD diving at 30 feet! Then they shoot up and out of the water like a ballistic missle taking off from a submarine. Incredible.
