01/06/2012, Village Cay, Roadtown, Tortola
We are back in Roadtown after some nice island hopping and fun visits by Ethan, Nico and Corrie. We really missed Hannah, but hopefully we'll get her down sometime soon. We spent the last few nights at Norman and Peter Islands The Peter Island Resort is awesome, if anyone is looking for a really great winter vacation spot ... albeit a bit pricey (but we stayed at the marina for a song). The Tradewinds restaurant there is excellent!
So, back in Roadtown for some final fixes before we head down island, possibly beginning with Saint Martin/Anguilla, depending on weather windows, wind direction, etc.
This picture is not Roadtown ... it's looking NE from the beach bar at Peter Island Resort ... just for the record.

01/05/2012, Nanny Cay
These young adventurers in Nanny Cay found a piece of floating dock. They jumped aboard and powered it with sweat equity and a SHOVEL :) paddling their way out toward the end of the docks. Once there the dock refused to turn around. As Dennis and I were walking along the dock they screamed out "save us, save us." Dennis, my hero, jumped in the dingy and we towed them back to safety. Before they landed however they all posed for a photo opportunity.

Reviewing the blogs I just realized that I had such fun when Nico and Corrie were here that I never took time to write about it. For now here's a cute photo of two wonderful people.

We are back in Nanny Cay after dropping off Ethan at Trellis Bay/Beef Island for his return trip and to pick up Nico's girlfriend, Corrie. Later today, will will head to Norman and Cooper Islands for some snorkeling, then back to Roadtown to drop Nico and Corrie off and to get a few more things done on the boat before we head down island. Can't wait for that!!!
And thanks to all for following us on our adventure. Your comments are much appreciated! happy New Year. I for one can't wait to see what 2012 brings!

Ethan was here for Christmas and New Years, Nico came down on New years Eve, his girlfriend on 1/2 and the 2 of them left this am. Imias them tons already.
12/29/2011, Norman Island, Pelican Island, the caves
It's a picture perfect day at Norman Island off Tortola. We kept our boat on a mooring and headed out for 2 dives using the dingy.
The first dive was at "The Indians" a rocky outcrop off Pelican Island. There were walls of healthy live corals with lots of colorful fish and invertebrates. I particularly liked swimming with schools of blue tang.
The second was at "the Caves.". You can snorkel right into one cave about 25 feet long and 3 feet wide, which would be quite dark if not for the underwater flashlight. There is a surge of water,in and out, that you can swim with. At the opening of the cave there was a school of about 25 needle fish, I also saw a pretty turtle with black and white markings.
A local person once found a treasure in one of the caves. It's easy to imagine these caves being frequented by pirates.
Wonderful day.

12/26/2011, Bitter End Yacht Club
Merry Christmas to all and a Happy New Year! Well, we've been busy, I guess, with Christmas and all. We got here at the BEYC two days ago, racing Ethan in on his ferry from Tortola. He actually passed us in the last five minutes in!
We had a nice Christmas eve/day/dinner and now are trying to shut out the sound of the DJ at the bar that is about 50 yards from our slip!
The flamingos are from a small lake just off the edge of North Sound, Virgin Gorda ... across from Saba Rock ... on Prickly Pear Island. After this little excursion, we took the dinghy over to "Jack and Burns Point," around the back (NE) side the Bitter End, anchored the dink in about 5 feet of water and saw some cool fish and coral.
Tomorrow we are off to the Dogs, then probably Peter and Norman, then to Trellis bay to pick up Nico on the 30th.
Cheers!
