Cumberland Island by Origami

A layover day was in order after the stressful crossing of Cumberland Sound. Looking for a National Park Service dock/access point to Cumberland Island we explored the local shoreline and tidal creeks in our dinghy Origami (see image above). Origami is so named because she is an 8' folding boat. The 7+ foot tidal range along the coast of GA is impressive. The tidal currents can present challenges in finding good landings in Origami or when steering C'est la Vie. The tidal currents can be a blessing or a curse when traveling the ICW. With the current pushing us along we can reach speeds over the ground of 8 knots, but place that same current on our bow and we crawl along at 2 knots. Anyway back to Cumberland Island....
