Shore leave for Carlie...

06 September 2007 | Lady's Island Marina, Beaufort, SC
Jeff
We arrived at Lady's Island Marina in Beaufort, SC mid afternoon on Sept. 4th. Joe the dock master and his wife Candy are exceptional hosts and quickly connected us with a local vet. To make a long story short Carlie has kidney stones and a UTI - ouch. She can take meds for both the stones and the UTI, but she must drink and pee often. It is a struggle to get her to do both while on board C'est la Vie. Graciously the Lovett's made a trip down from Mooresville, NC to pick up our sick crew member. They will spoil her while she is on the mend. Thanks to everyone that offered support and assistance. We will certainly miss Carlie's affection and endless passion for hunting the wily dolphins and ghost crabs on the remainder of this voyage.

For those folks traveling the ICW and looking for a resupply stop we highly recommend Lady's Island Marina and Beaufort, SC. The marina is located on Factory Creek just north of the Lady's Island swing bridge. Groceries, liquor, hardware, propane, heath food shop, post office, dining out, movie theater, and a vet are all within walking distance. The prices are reasonable and Joe and Candy the dock masters are very welcoming and helpful.

We plan to catch the falling tide at sunrise tomorrow. Small craft advisories and 4 to 6 foot sea generated by the pesky low pressure will keep us on the ICW for the next few days.
