dodger modification successful

We've had a beautiful day of sailing the ICW south through GA. The dodger repair/modification (see image included) successfully warded off any of the predicted showers. Guess we will have to wait a few more days to see if the tensioning strap will prevent rain from pooling.
We awoke early, seems to be a common theme while on the boat, to afford ourselves time to pass through Hell's Gate at a high tide. Hell's Gate... sounds horrific and probably is at a low tide, but we observed nothing less than ten feet of depth with the tide two hours below full. Tides in the area run 8.5 feet at full or new moons so a low tide would certainly limit passage to shallow draft vessels.
Minutes after placing Hell's Gate astern we hoisted the genny. For the next 45NM, approx 8 hours, and countless jibes, we sailed our way thru the notoriously shallow and twisted Georgia ICW - really we only made one tack in 8 hours of sailing on GA ICW - does Guinness keep record on such facts? The 15+ knot NE winds made for a great day of sailing.
