Once anchored off St. Simon's Island along the GA ICW we decided to go for an afternoon swim. The large tides in the area make for very strong tidal currents. Before swimming we tied 50ft of rope with a cushion affixed to the end and tossed this off the stern of C'est la Vie. Anne hit the water first and quickly drifted back to the cushion. Swimming hard I was barely able to overcome the current. Drifting back to the cushion then swimming up to C'est la Vie's stern made for a great afternoon workout.
Knowing that TS Gabby is lurking off the Carolina Coast, many of our friends have voiced concern for us. I want to assure everyone we are well south of any of Gabby's damaging winds. The 4 to 8 foot waves she is stirring up have prevented us from making any long offshore passages, but the counterclockwise rotation of her winds have provided us with the exceptional northeast breezes of the past few days.
Good luck to all our friends along the NC Coast.
