Boca Chita Key

The predicted storms concentrated their efforts over Miami and northward. Our afternoon remained breezy and sunny. Anne and I spent an hour exploring the island before donning our snorkeling attire.
We used the incoming tide to drift though the cut north of the key. During our August trip to Cleveland Anne was fitted for contacts. Now, wearing her contacts, she can actually see with clarity while wearing her dive mask. What a difference! The highlights of the snorkeling adventure were a large orange reticulated starfish and the schools of tiny fish hiding amidst the mangrove roots.
As the day waned we introduced ourselves to a couple of our neighbors, three other boats arrived while we were in the water. Just after the image above was taken the mosquitoes began their evening prowl. So ended a fine day in the Keys.
Later, awaking to an odd gong sound in the boat we both wondered aloud what? What is this? A noise to which we are accustom. Hmm... It seems we forgot to fill the fresh water tank while taking on diesel at Crandon State Park. Our water tank is so low the little remaining water is sloshing around and causing the sides of the metal tank to resonate. Now we begin to hope for rain so we might fill our tanks. Trouble in paradise?
