Cruising is often referred to as doing boat maintenance in exotic locations, and today was a perfect example of that. First, we motored over to the Peace and Plenty and anchored. Mark remembered that they had a dock and yesterday, we noticed that no one was using it. Mark dinghied us to shore at the P&P. They gave us a free wifi code and told us it was okay to use the dock. Chris and I headed out to check out some of the shops. That was interesting. Mark and Robert hitch-hiked to Napa, as Mark was looking for a particular diesel oil in order to do oil changes on both engines. Luckily, a driver stopped and gave them a ride as he was also heading that way. Mark found his brand of oil and was shocked at the price ($53 for one gallon of Rotella). The man was nice enough to drive them back. Since it's not a big place, we were able to meet up. We checked out the Exuma Market grocery store, but they had little in the way of fruits and veggies. We did not buy much. The guys took the diesel to the boat and then came around to the Lake Victoria with our trash bag and filled up the dinghy tank with gas, and then took our groceries as we knew it would be a wet ride. Chris and I bought some veggies from a couple of local farmers set up on the side of the main street. We met the guys in P&P for lunch. The one thing we noticed about eating on the patio was that when the food arrived, so did a bunch of flies. I guess they could smell our food...we dinghied back to the boat and then motored over to Volleyball beach. We attempted to anchor, but ended up too close to another Fountaine Pajot Cat, so we hauled anchor and headed towards the Monument Beach. Then on to boat maintenance. Mark discovered a leak in the hot water tank, which he was able to fix. Then Robert helped him change the oil in both engines. Then Robert, Mark and I went for swim to the beach. It was a long distance and the bottom was lined with sand and some spots that had weeds. Mark dove down and retrieved a starfish that was the size of his palm...to show me. Then he put it back. We walked the beach, which had nice sand. There was a wall of rock just off the beach. It looked like someone marked out a trail, with rocks piled high in places. We will have to check it out tomorrow. We also want to climb Monument Hill early before it gets too hot. It was a very hot day today with a cooliish breeze. The breeze was pretty cold after we showered. Dinner was lovely and Chris and I baked some peach muffins for tomorrow's breakfast. I think it will be an early night as the guys are tired out.
