Last Day in the Bahamas?
20 April 2015 | Bimini - North End

After breakfast, we took a walk to the beach, which was only one block from the marina. The water color was beautiful. We stuck our feet in the water, mostly because the sun was so very hot. Back at the boat, and after listening to several different weather reports, we decided to leave our slip at the marina and go back to our first anchor site off North Bimini. We would have left today, but it will take us about 10 hours to sail to Ft Lauderdale, and we were not getting an early start for the trip, with daily afternoon thunderstorms predicted. We put the jib up and had a lovely sail around the point. We did not choose the same anchorage, as the swells were coming in and we didn't want to rock all day and night. Also, the Casino Resort, had a lot of people on the beach and they cranked up their music, so we would have had to listen to that all day and night. So, we kept going past the next point. The waves in this anchorage were coming from the opposite direction, but not as big. There was one sailboat already anchored, which was one from our first day in Bimini. Mark and Robert tried around 5 different places, but each one would not hold. Good thing we have a windlass. There was a mooring ball close by, so we decided to tied onto the mooring ball, have lunch and snorkel and re-anchor or move, but after snorkeling, there is only grass on the bottom and no coral. We decided to stay attached overnight. We are not sure who is using this mooring ball as it will surely not be for snorkeling or diving. Hope we are not awakened overnight and kicked off. We had finished our SG&T time and after 6, the sun disappeared and the clouds rolled in, when this 100+ foot mega yacht came and anchored on the other side of the other sailboat. With all the marinas here, it was surprising maybe they are also heading to Ft Lauderdale tomorrow. It really felt like rain today and it may still come. We will be up well before sunrise and on our way back to the USA.
