Motor/Sailing the ICW

Up early and hauled anchor. It was a great spot. While watching our movie last night we were visited by several moths. There was a slight breeze all night and pleasant enough for sleeping with our hatches open. Had breakfast along the way. We had the jib up and our speeds were constantly over 6 knots. We will have covered over 50 miles. Only the JFK bridge needed to be called and they were on demand, so no waiting. Lots of high bridges and power lines across the ICW. The winds were variable today. It was very hot and sunny this morning, but then it clouded over. At times we thought we would get rain, but nothing so far. We are planning on anchoring after the A Max Brewer Bridge in Port Canaveral or Titusville. There is plenty of water outside the channel. With the breeze it should be a pleasant anchor overnight. Lots of speedy boats on the ICW, so had to slow down for some to pass and others we bumped over their wakes. Lots of sailboats out today. Still a lot of cruisers heading north. It's nice to see sailboats sailing!! We can still see the huge assembly building from the NASA space days. Mark says they will launch a rocket in the next few days, for the Space Station. Our plan to spend tomorrow in Daytona, which will only be around 35 miles. Then Monday, we will be in St Augustine overnight. Hard to believe that our cruising time is coming to an end.
