Cruising the ICW

Our day started early with a very foggy morning. It cleared by 8 and we motor sailed with full jib. We could see many places with Hurricane Irma damage with boats washed ashore and docks and houses damaged. We took turns at the helm and made good time. Lots of cruising boats on the ICW, moving fast to destinations of the Bahamas and Caribbean. The weather was sunny and hot (over 80 degrees) but as we motored around 6 knots, the breeze was cold. At times there was no wind at all so it was a good decision to use the ICW. Our Ft Pierce bridge tender would not answer my calls, but answered Mark's call for an opening. We anchored around 3:30 off the main channel that goes out to the inlet and a location where we have anchored in the past. The GPS is now talking to the Auto Pilot. Success for Mark's efforts. We will try to recalibrate it tomorrow. Checked for water leaks but none found. Mark made a new window wedge for one of the cockpit hatches. Mark will climb the mast tomorrow to fix the wind indicator which is not currently working. Enjoyed a hot dinner and even have leftovers for tomorrow. We are both exhausted from a day on the water and expect to sleep well tonight.
