About Us
12 January 2007 | Kenosha, Wisconsin, USA
Charis is our Beneteau Oceanis 350. We have owned Charis for 2 years now. She needs a little TLC but is in great shape otherwise. Based out of Kenosha, Wisconsin, our family enjoys summertime adventures exploring the Western shore of Lake Michigan.
I am currently refurbishing the teak cockpit seats. In the spring I will install new wind instruments and repair the autopilot. I also have a new head to install. The new head has an electric push-button flush that I am sure will get much use from our four children.
We co-own the boat with my wife's parents. They reside in South Carolina but summer in Kenosha to enjoy both Charis and the grandkids.
As a ten year old I read, "Dove" which details the circumnavigation of Robin Lee Graham. Robin captured my imagination as he sailed around the world as a teenager...he was only 16 years old when he departed in his 24' sailboat to return 5 years later with a lifetime of experiences and a beautiful wife as well. Since reading his book, I have never been able to quench my own desire to see the world.
I have been blessed with a wonderful wife who shares my passion for exploration and sailing. She and I are always planning our next family adventure... usually short weekend trips or at the most lasting two weeks as we attempt to fit the adventures in between life at home. But we both share a big dream of a big adventure... to take a year off from the rat race and just go explore the world with our kids before they are grown. What an awesome exprience that would be for our family! Our kids are now ages 11, 10, 6, and 3.
So until we truly work up the nerve to leave my dream job as a corporate pilot behind and set sail, we take little adventures aboard Charis. This summer we plan on a two week adventure as far as the wind blows. Most likely we will either head north to Door County, Wisconsin or across the lake to the Western shore of Michigan.
