I don't have a picture to go with this one. And the words will fail me too. So what am I doing here? Tonight we spent the evening at the Plazuela Machado for dinner and the Teatro Angela Peralta. We got lucky--the performance was by the Big Band de Monterrey. Wow. This is a 17 piece band with a vocalist (at times). And each of the musicians is world class. They play mostly jazz big band sounds. I couldn't help thinking of our friend Bill Noonan and how much he would have enjoyed this music. He's a connoiseur.
They played Jazz Me Blues, April in Paris, Love (L is for the way you look at me, O is for the only one I see, etc), Tree Frog, On a Clear Day, and my favorite, Sing Sing Sing. There were others, just can't list them all.
The band had 5 saxofones, 4 trompetas, piano, guitar, bass, drums, clarinet, flute and 4 trombones. They filled the Peralta and made my day.
