Arrival at Admiral Marina
29 September 2014 | Port Dickson
28/09/14 Departure from Puteri wasn't as early as intended, however were underway at 7am. Motor sailed with the genoa up as very little breeze, quite uneventful most of the day and as always after dark is when the dramas begin.
We did have a hitchhiker for awhile, don;t know why they like to fly into the main saloon for a rest. After a short rest off the sparrow flew, strange to see a sparrow so far out from land.
It was a very dark night, a thin sliver of a moon which was curtained with heavy cloud. We were in the main shipping channel for a few hours which wasn't really an issue just needed to keep vigilant watch. as we travelled up the coast and left the shipping channel the fishing nets and boats became the issue, many without lights. We decided sit up the front of the boat to keep better watch, only issue with that was that we were virtually on top of the buoys when we saw them and had to race back to the cockpit to put the motor in neutral.
10pm Chris saw a string of buoys just off the starboard bow, raced back to the cockpit to take the motor out of gear when he noticed a large dark shadow. He flashed the torch to see us slipping past a 10 metre fishing boat, no lights and oblivious to our presence only 2 metres from them!
Midnight and the wind piped in nicely, motor off and under way with sail only, very pleasant slicing through the water, gentle rock and skimming along at 7 knots assisted by the tide.
Pleased to be sailing as the thunder, lightening and rain came for the next couple of hours with so many fishing boats, nets etc everywhere. Wind died off but we managed to maintain minimum of 3 knots which we were content with as we had plenty of time to reach our destination by mid afternoon.
Wind dropped out completely about 9am and the tide against us, time to start the motor again and had have our peace shattered with the constant mechanical hum of the engine.
Arrived at Admiral Marina - Port Dickson around mid day.
Chris crashed out for a sleep for a couple of hours as I didn't assist much through the night, only an hour here and there, as I felt a bit fluey with quite a chesty cough, think I got a chill in the freezing Sushi King the other day and we had been saturated from the steamy weather. I slept most of the morning as well until we arrived Port Dickson.
Late afternoon we went exploring our surrounds, had a bite to eat at the resort restaurant and a swim in the pool. The resort is a little like Sebana Cove, where we were back in 2008/2009, but better maintained and possibly not so old but similar style.
