Exploring Pangkor

06 October 2014 | Pangkor Marina Island
Tropical Rain, thunderstorms
Chris had a couple of assignments to remark and we were going to organise topping up the diesel.

Siew decided to go exploring over on Pangkor Island, she caught the 10am catch ferry across.

Shortly after Siew left heavy rain set in which deferred our plans for diesel refuelling. Chris finished his marking and the rain had eased to drizzle, we set off exploring the immediate area.

Great hardstand facilities, a huge under cover area that many yachts were taking advantage of for refits and repairs. There isn't a travel lift but a trailer that is used for hauling out the boats, something to keep in mind for future haul-out if
required. Blocks of shops and apartments, all vacant , possibly only a year or two old but never been occupied.

A few cafes at the ferry wharf but all seem to be western coffees on offer, no such thing as Chris's favourite Kopi.

We spotted a Thai massage place and went for our fist massage for the trip! We both had a full 1 hour massage and I had 1/2 reflexology as well, just heaven and so good.

As it was still drizzling we decided to go over to Pangor island on the 4pm ferry, and catch the last one back at 7.30pm. We sent Siew a text to let her know we were on our way over and would meet up with her at the bay she was going to for a swim.

We decided to hire a motorbike rather than a taxi. We zapped around the tourist points of interest, sacred rock, apparently it keeps growing, dutch fortress and cannons, a couple of chinese temples and boat building.

Met up with Siew for a swim at Pantai Pasir Bogak, lovely clean warm water and sandy beach.

We continued around the island on the bike, hilly and windy in parts, lush rainforest and a few monkeys on the road side.

Met back up with Siew in the town and enjoyed a lovely meal at a chinese restaurant before catching the last ferry back.

Back on board Charmar checking emails to find we had the arrival instructions from Reback Marina, our destination preference. We've told them we'll be there in about 4-5 days, as we'd like to have a night at Penang on the way past.
