The finish at Calves Week
Mike
09/02/2009, Schull Harbor

The boat with the white assymetric spinnaker (green letters) is us nearing the finish line for third place. The boats behind us tried heading off on a flyer on the last leg and ended up in never never land.

After getting a big head with our finish here, we went to the 1720 Nationals at the end of August and had our head handed to us on a plate. If you want to see some great photos of the Nationals, Google the Baltimore Sailing Club Ireland and check out the photo gallery. We're the guys with the white spinnaker that says RF Comm in green, and dark Mylar sails, usually seen at the back of the pack. The name of the boat is RunLolaRun.

Our brilliant move

This photo is shortly after the start at Calves Week. After a not so hot start this photo shows us at the moment we found a great lane of clean air and tacked in to it. You can actually see the lane in this photo.

Racing at Calves Week
Mike
08/21/2009, Schull Harbor

I've been racing lately on a Cork 1720, a kind of Melges 24 on steroids. We recently competed at Calves Week, Ireland's answer to the world famous Cowes Week in England. In the final race on Sunday, we came third and surprised the entire fleet, including our skipper. It was a proud moment at the prize giving later that night.

We go to Baltimore, around the other side of Roaringwater Bay, next week for the 1720 Nationals. We're about to find out how good we really are.
