The original Delphi Lodge was just down the valley from Delphi Mountain Resort, where Heather found an Autumn deal too good to pass up, so we packed up the car and headed to Connemara in spite of a forecast of storm force winds and lashing rain. The resort and the area are fabulous. it was hard to leave really. i think its my favorite place in ireland after where we live.

On the way from Galway to Delphi Mountain Resort we pass through a section known as Joyce country, where James Joyce did much of his work. the natural beauty is awe inspiring. the long line down middle of scene, is a stone wall. this is a short well. some going up the steep mountain face must go on for a mile. amazing feat. not sure why, keep sheep out of potatoes, delinate properties...

Connemara is a combination of mountains, bog, pasture, lakes, rivers and seacoast. Wild, remote country that is interspersed with quant small villages and lively people. In the same day, you could catch fish and shellfish from the sea, then trout from the lakes. kayak the river rapids or go surf the waves off the beach.

The river outside the resort was being used for kayaking by a group of transition year students and had a number of waterfalls and challenging rapids for them to have fun with. this scene is just past a bridge where its smooth sailing.
