calmer wind and seas

We were able to tough it out and complete all stations on the C line yesterday starting in Terrebonne Bay and extending south about 100nm. That put us very near the same latitude as Corpus Christi, TX. During the night we transited to the west 30nm and are working north on the D line today. The wind and seas have died out to make it a beautiful day. We are currently on station working in 216 meters of water. (Continued...)

Because of the weather and rough seas we will postpone the stations scheduled for tonight until 0800 tomorrow. We are transiting to Terrebonne Bay where the seas should be calmer. (Continued...)

We left the Gulfport dock at 0600 yesterday and headed to Mobile Bay. We've completed the first line of 6 stations starting in Mobile bay and extending south 100 nm. We are currently transiting to the next line of stations 100 nm to the west. At each station we complete a CTD profile where water samples are collected at different depths and an optics package is lower through the water column. (View Post...)
