Hanging Out In the Pineapple House

01 May 2007 | Antigua
Chris
From left to right: Marit, Henri, and Emma hanging out in the Pineapple House.

We met Henri and Conner on their sailboat, Pamina, at Christmas Island in the Indian Ocean. We were the only boat in the anchorage and they arrived after having sailed straight from Vanuatu which is almost 3700 miles away. We made instant friends and spent lots of time with them all the way through the Indian Ocean. Conner is an experienced racer from Ireland and raced with us during the second half of Antigua Sailing Week. Henri had her sister Erica visiting and did not want to race but participated in all of the social activities.

Henri made up the best game for our SSB radio net on the way to the Caribbean. She would ask specific questions about the islands we were planning to visit. During the next net if you answer correctly you get points. It turned out to be an excellent way to get familiar with your next port of call.
