Passing Time in Colon

27 July 2007 | Shelter Bay Marina
Julie
Yes, we are still in Colon with not much news to report. We are also still in the Shelter Bay Marina which is just too convenient to leave. We are awaiting our new crew who arrives on Wednesday, and as we often tend to do just before a guest is arriving, decided to start some projects.

We are in the process of stripping and varnishing the nav station and parts of the galley and also re-caulking the heads. It's a bit hot to be working down below (for the first time since we've been on the boat I would kill for an A/C) but the work itself is quite rewarding. We are also weeding out the forward berth which we typically tend to use as a big storage locker and trying to sell our old sails, spinnaker, etc.

Yesterday we went to the PCYC and had Rudi, our friend and taxi driver, drive us out to the Signal Tower to get our appointment for going through the Canal. This morning the Admeasurer came out to inspect the boat and fill out a bunch of paperwork and after we go pay our $600 at Citibank on Monday, we'll be set to transit.

This is a bit of a relief as we have still been teetering on where to take the boat from here - East or West coast - so it looks like we have finally made a decision. At least for now.
