Chichime Cays

We motored the 60 miles to the San Blas and anchored at Chichime. Because it is the rainy season, there is not much wind. We anchored in the lagoon between the two palm tree covered islands. There are 5 other boats also anchored here but there is plenty of room.
We went for a swim as soon as the anchor was set. The water is the first semi clear water we have seen since Aruba. I checked the bottom of the boat which looked good.
A local dugout canoe came by and wanted to sell us some molas. Master mola make, Lisa Harris (she has adopted a western name), also paddled out, but we were not ready to buy molas.
Another man and his amigo came out to ask for money for his sick mother. We offered to trade clothes for lobsters, conch, or molas, but he just wanted money. After and extended conversation he saw another boat coming to anchor and figured they might be easier. He paddled half way to the boat before realizing it was French flagged and then gave up. He told me that the French never give him anything. I wondered what made US boats an easier mark.
