Back in the Cana

12 October 2007 | Mata Cana, Costa Rica
Chris
Okay Mata Cana is the best anchorage near Playa del Coco. We had a good 4 hour sail back from the Mucielagos. The wind was on the beam again and we made good time. The swell was getting larger during our return trip and all of the boats from Playa del Coco and Playa Hermosa were anchored in Playa Panama now. We looked for an anchorage in Playa Panama because there is a restaurant and resorts ashore. It is Friday night after all and we wanted some nightlife after our trip to the wild. Unfortunately it was too lumpy for Kim's taste so we head back to Mata Cana.

We called on the satphone to make sure our reservations for canopying tomorrow were still on....they are. We were also informed that it is a much easier trip to the canopying site from Mata Cana....great!

We had fun it the Murcielagos this morning. I could have stayed there for another couple of weeks. We went for an hour hike and then snorkeled in the bay. The hike was nice with some great views out towards the windward side of the island. The snorkel was good too. We saw so many of my favorite spotted grouper. Unfortunately this is a park so we are not allowed to shoot them.

On the way back we caught one small spotted mackerel. Andrew made ceviche and guacamole. Julie made pasta and we had some Chilean red wine. It was another fun dinner with good stories.

I also smoked a "Its a girl" cigar which Julie brought from our friends Julie and Ulrik who just had a baby. Glad to celebrate their family tonight. Ulrik moved from Norway to live in the US and met his wife Julie at our wedding with some help from my mom. So funny how these thing work. Actually Ulrik's knowledge and love of Swan 46s convinced me to buy this one.

The picture above is from dinner.
