We hired a guide to help us hike up and camp out over night on an active volcano, named Telica. It was the perfect setting for my Halloween Birthday. Julie even brought a torta de leche (Nica cake) with a birthday candle. There is lava in the pit of the volcano which you can see by crawling up to the edge and peering down the crater. However it is a little unnerving as the crater is about 400 feet deep and the edge is fairly dodgy. The lava is especially brilliant at night. We camped the night close to the edge so that we could peer over the edge after dark.
