Chris
It was an uneventful day sailing and motoring on and off with light airs.

The culinary delights continue. It was calm today so Julie was in the mood to cook more than soup. For lunch we had sierra (spotted mackerel) ceviche and for dinner we had two kinds of spicy cut rolls, ceviche, and handmade tortillas.

Andrew pulled this dorado in today which he was very proud of as it is one of the larger fish he has caught. He said something about catching a larger salmon outside of the Golden Gate bridge.

We listened to some Podcasts of NPR that Julie downloaded when she was in the US. One was about the amount of trash produced in the US. Supposedly the average person produces 6 pounds of trash per day. The person being interviewed was going to carry their trash every where they went for two weeks as an awareness creating exercise about the amount of trash we produce and how to reduce it.

Ironically the average cruising yacht knows exactly how much trash they produce as they are forced to carry it around often for months on end. Fortunately for us we only produce a small fraction of the average quoted above or it would fill the boat in a short amount of time. I doubt we are anymore environmentally conscious than the average these days but we are forced to carry our trash with us daily. Perhaps this interviewee is on to something. We also know exactly how much water, and electricity we use which I suspect is a lot less than the average too.
