Fishing While Cruising

24 June 2006 | Cairns, Australia
Chris
This picture is from Tonga last year however it optimises fishing while cruising which is what I spent most of the day reading about. The weather was just too nice to do anything else.

We have no idea what we are doing when it comes to fishing but we still catch beautiful and tasty mahi mahi like this. I think it is largely a numbers game. After all the only thing that we do consistently is keep our lines in the water and we have sailed 16,000 mile in the last 2 years.

Although, we would like to improve our odds. To this end I borrowed a copy of the Wendy and Scott Bannerot's "The Cruiser Handbook of Fishing" from our friend Kevin on S/V South Moon. My earlier post "Fish Smoking Experiment" also references this book and I can not give it any higher recommendation.

There are a number of techniques which I am really excited to try. I will let you know how it goes in future posts.
