The Beauty of Madagascar

In Madagascar, many of the things that we consider luxury items and pay a premium for in the US are some of the cheapest and most readily accessible, not to mention of far superior quality. Here are a few examples...
2 kilos jumbo prawns =3D 2 ropes + 6 bottles + 1 t-shirt 24 whole vanilla beans =3D $2US 1 bunch bananas =3D 1 empty Coke bottle 1 liter Hellville rum =3D $1.27US 6 organic free range eggs =3D 3 fishing hooks 8 oz. saffron =3D $1US 1 large beer =3D 5 empty beer bottles 2 large lobsters =3D 2 fishing lures, 1 bar soap, 6 batteries 9 mangoes =3D $1.50US Finding your own tropical island with a white sandy beach, clear azure waters and all the wild papayas you can eat =3D priceless (but also free!)
We were just amazed by the beauty of the land and sea, the welcoming people and wonderful foods. In terms of sailing, I'd say Madagascar is one of the few remaining undiscovered gems. We feel really lucky to have been able to experience it while it is still so unspoiled, because seeing what it has to offer, there is no way it will stay this way for long.
