Christmas Eve

24 December 2006 | Cape Town
Julie
It's Christmas eve and we've been busy for the last few days trying to get things done before visitors arrive. We took the sails off for some much needed repairs and have been doing general cleaning and organizing on the boat.

In between, we've been enjoying the wonderful sights and food here and have had some fun dinners out with friends.

We are having Christmas eve dinner on the boat with our friends Keri and Scotty - rack of lamb, grilled asparagus, potatoes and a persimmon salad. Dessert is Chris' favorite persimmon pudding from his grandmother's recipe.

After present opening and eggs benedict, we plan to hike up to the top of Table Mountain for a picnic and nice views of the city. It doesn't quite feel like Christmas here and will miss being with our families again this year, but it's nice to be in the company of friends in such a lovely city. We feel blessed.

We wish the very best to all of our family and friends (and perhaps friends we don't even know) for a happy holiday and a healthy and prosperous New Year!
