Antigua

22 April 2007 | Falmouth Harbor, Antigua
Julie
We had to motor most of the day, but arrived to English Harbor, Antigua at about 3pm on Friday and just made it to Customs and Immigration before they closed for the weekend. After securing the boat and cleaning up, we went for a walk over to Falmouth Harbor, just around the bend. The Classic Yacht Regatta is going on at the moment and there are some of the most gorgeous boats I've ever seen. They are all moored stern-to in the Antigua YC and it's quite a show over there.

We checked out the house we rented for the week and it's in a perfect location - a five minute walk from just about everywhere. The owners are also extremely nice and helpful. We arranged storage and are in the process of stripping the boat of all of its cruising gear - solar panels, biminy, dodger, liferaft, books, pots/pans, bikes, etc. We are getting our CSA Measurement on Monday afternoon, so need to be free of any extra weight by then.

After a great run this morning from English Harbor, up and over the hill to Falmouth, we sat and watched the classic yachts on their way out for today's race. Truly spectacular.
